Mumbai headquartered Garware Hi-Tech Films Ltd has become a high-tech integrated polyester film plants at Waluj and Chikalthana in Aurangabad. Despite being India’s largest manufacturer of suncontrol films and the only company to make paint protection films (PPF) for vehicles, we are fully aligned with the UN’s Sustainable Development Goals 2030 of Climate Action (SDG #13). We have created many sophisticated and well-designed programs that enable technology to blend with various innovations, resulting in zero waste. We are fully compliant with product testing and certification requirements for supporting sustainable and green movements for various global applications.

Sustainability is core to our vision of making our planet healthier. As a responsible high-performance film manufacturing company, we seek to deliver long-term economic value to our stakeholders while contributing to our communities’ environmental and social well-being. A circular economy approach is not only beneficial to the environment but also helps increase our profitability.

We have introduced new product variants that use post-consumer recycled PET (PCR) that are certified by approved agencies. This helps reduce carbon footprints and ensure that we take a step towards a circular economy. We are also a member of the Association of Plastic Recyclers (APR), USA.

Garware Hi-Tech Films Ltd plants have a continual thrust to recycle, reuse, and reduce, enabling waste as raw material. Besides recycling polymer waste generated in its process, we also buy post-consumer waste (PCR) to reprocess and use it effectively in our manufacturing process, ensuring product performance, quality, application, and regulatory requirements. The use of PCR helps in diverting plastic from landfills. As an environmentally aware conglomerate, we also focus on solid waste management, waste-water recycling, and rain-water harvesting.

Reduce, Reuse, and Recycle

By sustainably lowering energy consumption, using renewable resources, maximizing post-consumer recycled usage, reducing production waste, using 100 percent recyclable production waste, and reducing all non-recyclable waste generation, we have been able to improve our profitability. We are constantly looking for avenues to improve our process and capabilities to develop more sustainable solutions. Our efforts in saving the environment also help us reduce our manufacturing costs.

POLLUTION CONTROL

Ensuring Efficient Waste Management

We have been innovating on biomass briquettes used for steam generation to reduce environmental impact further. We enhanced our reproducibility, safety, and sustainability through installations of advanced technologies. Garware Hi-Tech Films Ltd screw press technology is one such example that eliminates the use of sludge drying beds in the Effluent Treatment Plant (ETP), reducing groundwater contamination and air pollution due to its vaporization. Our company uses processes like blowdowns to convert liquid to solid wastes with reduced efforts in handling and disposal of wastes. Using environment-friendly films in consumer product packing has also made post-consumer recycling much easier.

The chemical processes at our factories are highly optimized to eliminate any atmospheric discharges. Installation of gas drying systems, scrubbers, and solid separation filters ensures a green atmosphere. The closed-loop processes from PET resin as raw material to laminated films as final products ensure unpolluted products with zero environmental impact. We also manage a large plantation of more than 17,000 trees in and around the manufacturing location.

In 2020-21, Garware Hi-Tech Films Ltd was awarded Gold Medal by IRIM for the Indian Green Manufacturing Challenge and Sustainability.

IMPACT

Reducing Our Carbon Footprint

Garware Hi-Tech Films Ltd helps its consumers become more environmentally friendly. Our low-oligomer content films used in the hermetically sealed compressors increase the efficiency and reliability of the compressor. This has significantly enhanced the overall performance of the compressor, safeguarding it against premature product failures. Moreover, these practices help lower energy consumption and allow safe usage by consumers. Our suncontrol window films for auto and architectural applications result in a reduction of 3 to 5 per cent fuel and an equal amount of carbon emission reduction, collectively making a significant impact on the environment.

We are also the first company in India to introduce an alternate product, PETG, to replace hazardous PVC shrink label films by developing new technology and achieving international quality standards.
